Rolling stone - Analyse van The 500 greatest albums van 2003, 2012 en 2020

Drie keer heeft de redactie van Rolling stone een canon-achtig overzicht gemaakt van the greatest albums of all time. Belangrijke lijsten. Realiseert u zich dat er in de lijsten van 2003 of 2012 geen albums opgenomen konden worden uit bijvoorbeeld 2018.

Analyse van de drie lijsten per decennium toont aan dat er door de jaren heen 'slechts' 694 unieke albums worden genoemd.

Vergelijking met analyse
Sinds 1974 worden in meerdere muziekbladen zogenaamde jaarlijstjes opgenomen.
Op deze site worden deze lijstjes actief verzameld en samengebracht
Opmerkelijk is dat jaarlijstjes 'ook maar' een momentopname zijn.
Toen vonden de samenstellers bepaalde platen erg belangrijk.
Vaak verandert jarten later de kijk op wat werkelijk belangrijke albums waren.
Dat wordt ook met deze 500 greatest albums weer gedemonstreerd.
Ik heb alle genoemde albums vergeleken met de analyse die ik voor muzieklijstjes heb gemaakt.

In de laatste kolom staat bijvoorbeeld 4/13.
Dat wil zeggen dat in dat bewuste jaar in de 13 jaarlijstjes de bewuste plaat in vier jaarlijstjes staat.

Onderaan staan alle albums gerangschikt per artiest. Er zijn drie artiesten die elk met 11 albums in de drie lijsten voorkomen: The Beatles, Bob Dylan en The Rolling stones.
In totaal worden 385 artiesten genoemd.
