In het eerste nummer van 2022 keek de redactie terug op 'the greatest year in music'. Daarachter stond een vraagteken. Maar er zijn veel argumenten om met die zin in te stemmen. Sterker: in déze lijst worden de platen NIET genoemd die altijd genoemd worden als het om het jaar 1971 gaat. Het zijn een soort runner ups, een reservelijst. Opmerkelijk: een Nederlandse groep, Supersister. In 2016 verscheen er al een
boek van David Hepworth: Never a dull moment : 1971 the year
that rock exploded. In 2020 stelde de redactie van Spin ook een lijstje samen met de beste 50 én bekendste albums. Klik hier. Het oudste lijstje verscheen in 1971 in de Village voice.
