music magazine is een Engels muziekmaandblad dat vooral aandacht
schenkt aan wereldmuziek. In het 19e nummer (july/august 2003)
publiceert de redactie een beredeneerde lijst met de beste 50
wereldmuziekalbums. Samensteller Simon Broughton zegt over de
uitgangspunten: no multi-artist compilations, although a few
single-artist compilations were allowed. And all had to be currently
available in the UK. And because some areas are difficult to cover in a
couple of discs, we've put a dozen compilations at the end because they
fill some gaps or they're simply so darn good.
