In het eerste nummer van Oor van 2004 verscheen een artikel van Herman van der Horst onder de kop

50 jaar pop 1954-2004. Aanleiding is het feit dat op 5 juli 1954 Elvis Presley in Memphis

'That's allright (mama)' opnam. Een van de vele nummers die gezien kunnen worden als hét nummer waarmee

dé popmzuziek zou zijn begonnen.

Prima dat Oor inziet dat hun steeds jonger wordend publiek er op wordt gewezen dat de popmuziek niet is

begonnen met the Strokes, the White stripes of Kurt Cobain.

In de vijf + 1 nummers stond in Oor telkens een decennium centraal:

Nummer 2 van 2004 - de vijftiger jaren (met als blikvanger Elvis Presley),

Nummer 3 van 2004 - de zestiger jaren (John Lennon/the Beatles),

Nummer 4 van 2004 - de zeventiger jaren (Johnny Rotten/the sex pistols),

Nummer 5 van 2004 - de tachtiger jaren (Madonna) en

Nummer 6 van 2004 - de jaren negentig (Kurt Cobain/Nirvana).

En in nummer 7 verscheen tot slot een epiloog onder de kop De 21 van de 21e eeuw

In november 2004 werd op de (vernieuwde) Oorsite een

top 100 aller tijden gepubliceerd

Elke artiest komt slechts eén keer voor. Van elke artiest wordt één cd genoemd (studio of

verzamel). En zoals zo vaak gaat ook hier gelukkig op dat over de keuze valt te twisten.

Kortom, leuke dingen voor de (muzikale) mens. Het getal in de voorlaatste kolom geeft het

aantal keren aan dat de genoemde cd voorkomt in de overkoepelende lijst.
